Guest Blogger Takes Over my Blog! Blogtober Day 15

Hi guys! My name is Jennifer and I’m excited to be a guest blogger on Seneca’s blog today. Seneca and I have been friends on YouTube and on social media. She is definitely the sweetest!! We’ve been doing Blogtober on our blogs and today I get to share with you all my favorite Fall memory.

My family and I have a ton of traditions and one of them is going to a pumpkin patch. We try our best to go every year. It’s so much fun being able to pick out some pumpkins and usually where we go there’s also an apple orchard so we get to go apple picking as well. I enjoy being able to be around my family and just enjoy being outdoors. Where we go is called Royal Oak Farm in Harvard Illinois. We like to make a day of it. What I love the most about it is that it’s Christian based. So whenever you go into any of the shops there are verses painted all over the walls. It’s so beautiful! There’s also a petting zoo for kids and even a hayride which gives you a tour of the whole place and takes you to where they actually grow the pumpkins. It’s so interesting to learn about it all! There’s also a maze full of apple trees that you have to figure out a riddle to win a prize. It changes every year so we have yet to figure it out! We can’t forget their apple cider donuts! Amazing!

If you’ve never been there I highly recommend it. It’s beautiful and family owned.

I feel as though Fall starts to bring families together and I think that’s why I love this season. I’m a big family type of gal so doing anything that involves them makes me so happy!

Thank you for reading my post! Also thank you Seneca for having me be your guest blogger. This was so much fun! Check out her YouTube channel for some fun content! You will love it!

A Day in My Life. Blogtober Day 14

I’ve never written a post like this before, so I’m excited to dive into going through my day with you guys.  Before we do, can you believe we are two weeks into October, I feel like I was just finishing up writing week one.  I’m hoping soon to go visit a local apple orchard, which will cross one thing off my bucket list!!

So let’s get started on my day, and since this comes out on a Sunday, I’ll be describing my Sunday.

First things first, I love waking up on Sunday morning, going downstairs and starting breakfast for me and my husband.  I’ll start brewing the coffee for him, and I’ll make a cup of tea for myself.  Sometimes I’ll treat Matt and make cinnamon rolls, but most of the time we eat eggs, sausage and biscuits/toast.
Not long after breakfast we start getting ready for church, which I’m so thankful we finally found a great church for us!

Matt enjoys going out to lunch after church, as for me, I like to go home and cook a nice Sunday meal for us.  Either way, we enjoy our time together.  After lunch, if we go out, we may run a few small errands, but most of the time we will head back home.

Once we are home, it’s straight into comfy clothes, and relax for a bit. We don’t often get Sunday’s to ourselves, because of my work schedule, so when we do, we make the most of it.  During the summer, Matt may mow the lawn, or do some projects around the house.  You will hear the hum of the washer and dryer going in the laundry room, and hopefully the dishes are done or soon to be done.

Matt and I will usually relax on the couch together, I’ll be working on a blog or video for my channel.  We love these opportunities to binge watch a show together.  The other day we did a marvel movie marathon and watched 3 movies on a Sunday, it was the best!!

However life got a little busier today than usual.  Yesterday I videoed my first wedding ever, it went great but it wore me out!  So this morning, my father in law needed to go deliver hay to customers, so Matt and I brought our truck to help out and got it all finished by around 11 this morning.

Once we got back home, I crawled right back into bed, and relaxed for a long while before heading over to my in-laws, which is where I’m at now finishing this up.  So not quite the prettiest vlog format today, but hey, I didn’t want to miss today so I hope you enjoyed reading this!!

Of course not every Sunday is the perfect Sunday as described up above, but I try my best to make Sunday great and relaxing for us because we are always tired after a long week.  As long as we are together, it’s perfect in my book!!

Thanks for reading!!! Excited to keep on with Blogtober!
Tomorrow we will be having a guest post by my sweet friend Jen, so make sure to give her lots of love and check out her blog as well! I’ll link it here!

My Go-To Favorite Perfume! Blogtober Day 13

Today’s post is a fun one it’s all about my favorite scents/perfume!  I love wearing different scents and I’m embarrassed to even tell you how many things from bath & body works that I have…it’s just…it’s a lot.

Anyway, I’m very seasonal in what I wear, and currently I have 2 or 3 fragrances I bounce around and wear.  You saw some in my favorite products blog, which I’ll link here, so I won’t repeat those again.
Let’s start with my year round go-to scents!

Magic In the Air!

As you can see, my bottles are not full at all with this scent, I love, love, love this one.  It came out 2 years ago at BBW during the Christmas season and it’s been a core fragrance ever since.  This fragrance has whipped vanilla bourbon, fluffy iris, and sandalwood all combined to create an amazing smell.  I’ll usually grab this and put it on no matter what I’m doing, it’s good for all occasions.

Velvet Sugar!

This fragrance is actually a retired fragrance at BBW, which makes me quite sad because it’s up there in favorites.  This fragrances is a deep musky scent with a little hint of sweetness to it.  They got it right when they were making this fragrance.  Sometimes after a hard day, or just a long day, I’ll grab this scent in the shower and it just fills the whole bathroom with it’s scent, creating a relaxing end to my day.  I usually just wear this fragrance at night most of the time, now that I’m sitting here thinking about it.  Occasionally I’ll wear this when I’m out and about in the day but it’s normally at night.

Coco Shea-Coconut!

So this fragrance is more of a skin care essential for me, not necessarily worn for a lot of fragrance, but I wanted to put it in here anyway.  The coconut is the best smelling out of the coco shea collection I will say.  The coconut line is designed for intense moisture and keeping your skin protected from cracking or drying out, especially with winter coming soon.

Orchard Leaves & Blue Skies!

I almost put this one in my favorite fall product faves, but I always love any fragrance that is crisp & clean.  This is exactly that!  Unfortunately they have retired this fragrance too, but if they ever bring it back out, I’ll buying the whole store’s supply!  I only use this on the rarest occasion in the fall because once it’s out, I’ll be lost.  Okay, thats dramatic, but I’m sure you understand what I mean.

Chanel Chance-Eau Fraiche!

I’ll finish off with this fragrance of mine.  This is my go-to when I have a big event, extra special occasion, anything fancy!  I will sometimes wear it just for fun of any normal day, but I tend to treat this one more delicately.  My husband got this for me years ago for one of my birthdays, I can’t remember when sadly, but it’s probably been about 4 years; you can see how I use it sparingly.  It smells amazing, it’s so hard to explain how scents smell over text, but I’ll try my best.  It’s just a sweet, juicy fragrance, in which a little goes a long way.

Have you smelled any of these before?  What are your favorites?
Thank you so much for reading, see you tomorrow!

Favorite Fall Quotes! Blogtober Day 12

Okay, I’ll be honest with you, I’m not normally a quote person.  It’s just not something to where I can be like, ‘oh yeah this reminds of that quote!’.  I just don’t really know any off the top of my head.

With that being said, I definitely googled fall quotes, and found the ones I liked the best!  However, this is helping me with my lack of quote knowledge, and who knows maybe I’ll add one to my vocabulary and just blurt it out one day randomly this fall.  I’m lame, I know! hehe

Let’s dive into these quotes!!

autumn beatuty

This is a good one, it’s definitely true!!  The beauty of fall can be so incredible, especially where I’m from in West Virginia. The mountains that showcase the deep, rich colors of fall is the best, but, it’s not going to last forever, although we’d love to see those colors year round.  Sometimes we just have to understand that whatever is coming next in our lives, could be so much greater that was is now!  For me, trusting in the Lord is what helps me when I’m not sure of what is next for me.  Uncertainty is scary, but as the quote says, it can be beautiful to see what is around the corner!

Okay, now that I’ve seen this one, I’ve definitely heard this quote before, and I couldn’t agree more with it!  October is my favorite month, and if you’ve been reading along each day you already know that.  I actually wanted to get married in October, October 23rd to be exact, but it didn’t work that way, and I’m okay with that.  October is still the best and for me it’s the official start of fall.

leaves turn

I’ll end with this one, and I’m glad I found it.  I’m a huge believer of slowing down, and just listening to the quiet.  Our world has become so incredibly fast paced and I can’t stand it.  As much as I love twitter and other social platforms, there are some days where I just leave it off and don’t mess with it.  At the end of the day it’s not about how many followers, or subscribers you have, what quality time did you have with your loved ones, or what did you do for you that day?  Life passes by fast, so get your head out of our phones and fast paced life and SLOW DOWN, look around you and just take it all in!!  Sorry, I could go on and on about this, but I believe it!

Have you heard these quotes before?  Link below our Blogtober’s so I can see your favorite fall quotes!  Hope everyone is having a happy fall!!

My Favorite Spot in my City. Blogtober Day 11

There are so many pretty spots where I live, so I narrowed it down to two special places I like to be at any chance I get.

First off, I love downtown!  It’s not very big, but it’s a downtown that still has life in it, and some very neat local businesses up and running.  A brand new place just opened up called Board and Brush and it’s basically a paint your own sign shop that you can choose almost any design and create wall decor!  My husband actually agreed that would be a fun date night, which has me over the moon excited for that!  Not only do you get to choose any design you’d like, they have complimentary wine!!  (BONUS!)
We also have a cute clothing store called Elysian & Co.  It’s a little on the pricey side, but if you can catch clearance at the right time, you can find some good deals on cute clothes.  They now are selling Hunter boots, but I still don’t think I’ll be able to pick up a pair yet, if I did though, I’d get olive green for sure!
Probably my favorite shop downtown, is a coffee shop!  It also sells Himalayan salt lamps, and has a salt room in the back that you can go in and relax?  I’m not exactly sure yet what it really is, but one day my goal is to go check that part of the shop out.  They finally have hot apple cider back in season so I was there today, and drank one as I worked on things for my YouTube channel (linked below).

My second favorite spot would be my in-laws house and property.  They own 90 acres and it’s on a dead end road.  I just love visiting them, and spending time on the farm.  It’s just so relaxing to me, and family is for sure the most important part of my life, so spending time with them will always be my favorite.
It’s so peaceful and quiet, and if I’ve had a stressful week, or just feel off my game, I’ll say to my husband let’s go to the farmhouse and we are out the door.  It’s fun to bring our dog with us too, she enjoys visiting as well.
A few months ago, my mother-in-law hurt herself so I felt like I needed to step up and help out as much as I could which she was unable to move around like usual.  I put together a little video of all that which I’ll link here!
She has 3 horses so I especially enjoyed going over and tending to them, she also has about 8 or 9 chickens!

So there you have it, my favorite spots in my town!  Of course, everything is the prettiest right now because the fall leaves are all around downtown and on the farm.  I’m ready to go out and get some decent photos.

Thanks so much for reading!! I appreciate every single one of you!!

10 Best Ways to Save Money. Blogtober Day 10

Ever since I’ve been on my own, I’ve always been trying to figure out how to save money.   Sometimes it’s not easy, I’ll just be honest.  We all have just splurged on something we didn’t need or didn’t need right at the moment, and could have waited a little longer.  It’s hard to tell yourself you can live without that cute sweater or you don’t need that Starbucks on your way to work today (especially on a Monday).

So let’s go over some ways to save money!

  1. Make your own coffee/tea and bring it with you to work!  Yes Starbucks has some tasty drinks, but have you ever really listened to how much they actually cost?  I swear I hear the prices get to like $6 or $7 these days, that so much!  It’s fun to treat yourself every now and then, but bringing our own coffee can save you a lot of money each week/month.
  2. Pay cash at the gas station.  I know most of us have just gotten used to paying at the pump, which I still do myself, but did you know that some places are almost 10 cents cheaper if you pay cash?  That adds up & you can save a lot, especially if you have 2 big tanks to fill up like I do.
  3. Shop at Aldi’s or a discount grocery store.  I’m lucky enough to have an Aldi’s in our town to shop at, but there are also bulk food stores that are awesome!  I’m actually going to one when this blog is posted.  You can buy a lot for so cheap at both places. Brand names are a scam sometimes, Aldi’s has great choices for so much cheaper.  I can get almost 2 weeks of groceries for about $100, sometimes cheaper depending on what I am out of at that time.
  4. Find an app for your local grocery store.  Most stores have an app you can put on your phone in which you can download coupons, look up the best deals & even get freebie’s sometimes too.  If you can’t find everything you need at Aldi’s, you have to go to another store, check to see if they have coupons, everything helps!
  5. Don’t eat out all the time!  Okay, there for awhile, we were really bad at this…I think it was after we got back from our honeymoon, we just keep getting food while we were out, or we wouldn’t pack our lunches for work.  We tried just going out to dinner on Friday’s but now it’s even less than that sometimes.  Having family dinners even helps with saving money, have everyone bring a side dish or drinks and then you can have family time and not spend a fortune.
  6. Pack your lunch for work.  This is such a huge money saver, and it’s easy too!  I usually make a big dinner so my husband and I can take the leftovers for work for the next day.  For a week, I was pretty bad about this, and I spent around $30 I didn’t need to spend on food that I could have just brought from home.  It’s silly to do that, especially when you can just bring your own food.  One week I literally brought a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter to work with me. hey it worked!
  7. Turn your lights off when you’re not in that room.  If you have your own place, you can save a lot of money by conserving electricity.  LED bulbs can help you save a lot on your month bill.  Although they are somewhat expensive at first to get, they really help pay for themselves as time goes.  I just got a few at a time through the year, and now my whole house has them.
  8. Invest!  For about 3 or 4 years now I have been sending $50 each month into an investment company where they are putting it into different investments and it’s been growing which is awesome!  It’s mainly for when I retire at 65 or whenever I do, I’ll have something.  My dad helped me set it up, and he’s been doing the same thing for even longer and I’ve seen the benefits of it all.  You are never too young or old to start either!!  What are you waiting for?
  9. Do you have a savings account?  Okay, I know that was a silly question to ask, but are you using  your savings account?  How much do you put away each paycheck?? I usually do about 80% checking 20% savings at first.  Once I get my bills paid, I move the extra back into our savings.  It really helps, and it’s awesome to watch the savings go up!
  10. Just be wise.  I’ll finish my list up with this, just be smart about what your buying.  Always ask yourself, do you really need what your buying?  Are all your bills paid before you buy something for fun?  We all fail at these, you’re not alone, but it’s never to late to start saving and building back up your bank account.  You can do this!!

There you have it, my 10 tips for saving money!  This was good to sit down and write them all out, and I hope this helps you in one way or another.

My Beauty Must Haves!! Blogtober Day 9

Hey guys!  Today is all about my beauty must haves!  These are my favorite make up products, and most of these I use everyday.

I used to be very reserved in what colors I wore, but one day I just said to myself, I can wear that, and ever since then I’m always trying new lip colors or new eye shadow shades as well.

Let’s get into it!

Face Must Haves:

I have tried several brands of makeup over the years, and eventually I’ll circle back around to the different brands I’ve used.

Every great foundation needs to be backed by a nice primer.  As you can see my primer is almost empty.  This is the Mary Kay primer, and it’s such a nice light feel to your face, and doesn’t cause break outs to happen.

Right now I’m HOOKED on IT Cosmetics!!  They recently brought out this oil-free matte formula and I had to try it.  I wear the shade Light, and so far I like it, plus the packaging is so pretty, I’m a big fan of the color!  The formula is definitely different than the regular foundation, but it’s decent.  The matte finish is very nice, and I’m glad I tried it, I’m not sure if I would re-purchase but it was fun to try this time around.

I also love the IT Cosmetics Perfecting Power, also in the shade light.  I accidentally bought the illuminating powder instead of just the regular style.  I will say there is NO difference between the two.  I expected there to be some shimmer to it, but there isn’t, I’m okay with that thought because I love their powder either way, but when it said illumination, I figured there would be something!

Brows! Brows! Brows!

Believe it or not, I used to never to do my eyebrows, I didn’t really know what to do, or what products were best.  I started with the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow dip gel, but then moved on to the brow definer pen, as you see here; I wear the shade caramel.
Once I outline my brows I go back over them with the Gimme Brow Mascara by Benefit.  I really like the brow mascara a lot, and if I’m in a rush, sometimes I’ll just wear that.  I wear shade 1 in Gimme Brow.

For my eyeshadow, I love to prime with my Too Faced Shadow Insurance.  THIS WORKS!!!!  My eye make up will last all day with this primer, highly recommend.

Eye Shadow!

I am obsessed with these two palettes!  They are my everyday grab & go looks!  On the left we have the Sweet Peach palette by Too Faced and the right is a simple palette by Tarte.

The Tarte palette is super simple, and is just nice for a simple look, a few shade choices and you’re out the door!  This was a gift from one of my employees and I was so touched when she gave it to me!  Tarte has a lot of these smaller palettes that are beautiful shades that can go with any look!

I recently started becoming obsessed with Too Faced, and I’m pretty sure it started when I bought the Sweet Peach palette!  I LOVE the shade range and I’ve used all of them to create looks for every occasion.  The names for the shades are of course peach themed and they are adorable, I would love to have the job to create the names for them.  They said it smells like peaches and it totally does, it’s my favorite thing.  I got my mom & best friend to buy this too, and they always are telling me they love wearing it.
Too Faced it about to release the Gingerbread shadow palette and I’m for sure buying that one too!!

Lashes & Liner

Although I don’t wear mascara or eyeliner every day I do have my faves!!   These two in the picture were both gifts as well, and I wish I knew about the eye liner earlier than I did.
The eye liner is by Too Faced and it’s called I want Kandee.  It’s unique because it’s not actually a brushed tip, its more like a calligraphy pen tip, if that makes sense.  It makes gorgeous lines, and the color is so rich, it just helps complete your shadow look.
The mascara is a brand I’d never hear of before, and I think it’s just E (?) Sorry I’m not more specific about it, I’ve just never seen it before.  It’s called Black Magic mascara, it doesn’t clump, this particular one is not waterproof.

If you know me, or have followed me on social media (linked below), you know that this is my favorite go-to shade of lipstick!!!

The lip pencil & tube of lipstick are both the same exact shade of Bittersweet, and they are by Urban Decay.  I honestly don’t know how this shade obsessions started, but I’m glad it did!
The other lipstick is a liquid lipstick, by Kat Von D, and it’s called Superia.  It has a long lasting wear, and it’s usually in my purse at all times.

There you have it!!  All my beauty must haves!!  I hope you enjoyed going through my makeup bag with me.  Do we share any favorites?? Let me know in the comments.
